Distant Shores by David Ridley is a wide, panoramic seascape built around a dramatic break in the weather. Billowing cloud in deep indigo, violet and soft lilac fills the upper two-thirds of the composition, worked with visible texture and impasto that catches the light across its surface, before parting to reveal a luminous pale gap where the sky meets a line of dark, silhouetted hills. Below, the sea stretches out in long, textured strokes of teal, grey and white, with flashes of pink and violet rippling across the water where the light breaks through.
The panoramic format gives the piece real scale and presence, drawing the eye along the horizon rather than up through the centre, and reinforces the sense of distance implied by the title. Ridley's handling of texture throughout, from the worked, almost sculptural cloud to the more fluid, rhythmic water, gives the piece a tactile quality that rewards close viewing as much as the overall atmosphere does from afar.

How Is My Artwork Packaged?
To ensure a secure transit, every artwork is handled with utmost care. We take precautionary measures by using foam edges to protect each side of the artwork, followed by shrink-wrapping for added safety during transportation.

Free 14 Day Returns
We always want you to be delighted with your artwork. If you have changed your mind and wish to return your online purchase from us, you have 14 days from the point of delivery to contact us to organise a return. We do not charge for online returns.
