Iain Faulkner Ocean Avenue

A classic black Porsche 356 glides across the crosswalk beneath Santa Monica's famous archway, its polished bodywork catching the last light of day as the sky behind fades from blue to amber. Part of Iain Faulkner's exploration of iconic Californian landmarks, this piece captures Ocean Avenue at its most cinematic, the palm trees, traffic signals and painted road markings all rendered with the same crisp attention as the car itself.

Ocean Avenue takes its subject from one of Santa Monica's most recognisable intersections, the historic Yacht Harbor sign spanning the road with its handpainted lettering advertising sport fishing, boating and cafes. Faulkner frames the composition around the sleek silhouette of the vintage Porsche, using its dark form to anchor the eye against the warm glow of the horizon beyond, a favourite device in his broader body of automotive and street scene work.

As with much of Faulkner's Californian cityscapes, the painting relies on the contrast between hard architectural and mechanical detail, the signage, traffic lights, and chrome trim, and the softening effect of golden hour light, giving the scene both precision and atmosphere in equal measure.

This is a hand-signed and numbered limited edition print, published in an edition of 66, printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Agave Paper for archival quality and rich tonal depth.

Prior to delivery, all artworks undergo a meticulous quality check process, which typically takes up to two weeks to complete. After your order is placed, our client services team will contact you with an estimated delivery date.
If you opt for delivery to a gallery of your choosing, an art consultant will reach out to notify you once the artwork has arrived. They will coordinate with you to arrange a convenient time for collection that suits your schedule.

How Is My Artwork Packaged?

To ensure a secure transit, every artwork is handled with utmost care. We take precautionary measures by using foam edges to protect each side of the artwork, followed by shrink-wrapping for added safety during transportation.

We always want you to be delighted with your artwork. If you have changed your mind and wish to return your online purchase from us, you have 14 days from the point of delivery to contact us to organise a return. We do not charge for online returns.
